Hope and Aid Direct take two convoys of trucks loaded with humanitarian aid, to Kosovo at least twice a year. These are usually at Easter and then again during September. When you consider all the members of the charity are volunteers, this is a daunting task. In six just months they need to raise all the funds required to pay for the truck hire, fuel, insurance and road tolls together with customs fees then there are the ferry charges for most of the convoy, although Ford are very generous to let some of trucks use their own ferries across the English Channel. These same volunteers also have to gather in all the donated food and items on wish lists provided from the previous trip. As soon as they arrive home after an aid trip, which probably used up part of their holiday allowance from their day job, they have to start the entire process all over again. Now that is dedication.
