Hope and Aid Direct and London Gliding Club have teamed up to enable volunteers to LOOP THE LOOP for charity on 25 April 2009
Sponsors are required to make this a great fund raising event to help the charity take another convoy of humanitarian aid to Kosovo.
The  volunteers who go on these convoys raise all their own funds for the fuel, vehicle hire and insurance. Even some of the aid itself has to be purchased when not enough has been donated.

SPONSORED LOOP THE LOOP

Veteran Convoyer, Maggie Beecher of 'Wales and the South West Region', chased away the winter blues with her wonderful Magnum Opus evening on Saturday 24 January, 2009.
Lisvane Memorial Hall on the outskirts of Cardiff, was transformed, by Maggie's skillful hands, into an elegant dining area with beautifully dressed tables resplendent with hand-crafted floral arrangements.
The assembled guest were treated to the delights of Maggie's culinary skills, a superb 3 course dinner, which was intertwined with a succession of extremely talented singers from the Welsh National Opera who had very kindly given up their Saturday evening to perform an array of classical favourites.
Drinks were served from Coxy's Bar ...with good old Coxy kept busy all evening by the thirsty audience. myself and John Evans (Two Taffs) who naively thought we had simply come along to enjoy the evening, were quickly put to work by Maggie serving the meals, as was Mary McDermott who had travelled up in her trusty Camper Van from the Southampton Region ...it was hard work but thoroughly enjoyable and it was a pleasure to help out.
Maggie, who had worked tirelessly throughout the day and evening, gave a short but poignant presentation on the work of Hope and Aid Direct to the audience, all of whom listened intently and many of whom were inspired to dig deep and give a little more money!
To give a flavour of the singing standard, the attached video should be listened to by all (insert WNO_3)

Congratulations on a very successful evening Maggie !!!

This Benefit Night was a phenomenal success....!

Everybody there seemed to have a wonderful time and were VERY generous indeed.
The Band were brilliant and gave a great performance which had everybody jigging happily :) And I thought Patrick Jones was brilliant and very relevant.
There are so many people who helped, its hard to pick just a few but one who must have a mention is Gethin Jenkins. He was such a brilliant person who offered much more help than I could ever have imagined. He put up with 'squiffy' people with a smile, he signed autographs, personal messages, drew the raffle and offered to take in and get the Wales squad to sign quite a few of the Rugby memorabilia that I had ...which of course added to their value enormously during the bidding. He even took part in the bidding..!

Charity Concert to raise funds for Hope and Aid Direct

This is the sort of thing our volunteers organise to help raise funds for their next trip to places such as Kosovo where the humanitarian aid we take is desperately needed and the situation does not seem to get any better either.

What was originally suppose to be a short term arrangement immediately after the war in Kosovo, has turned into a regular twice yearly convoy of aid, which is now relied upon by these poor and displaced people who might not survive without it.
